Fine Art Photography - Spooky Edition

Saturday 24 October

I'm calling it "Fine Art" because I'd like to focus more on conveying emotions grief, sadness , isolation, being creeped out, devistation, etc. through a photograph. And it's "Spooky" because it'll be October and we're going to be at a cemetery. We will be discussing techniques, composition, and emotional storytelling.I will have some props available. But feel free to bring your own flowers, candles, religious items, trinkets.ALL levels welcome! ANY type of camera! And let's remember, we're in a cemetery, we must be respectful and leave no trace we were ever there. I'm positive we'll find lots of stories and emotions to convey!Bring your camera, charged batteries, tripod, water, all terrain shoes, and sense of wonder!Bring your camera, charged batteries, tripod, water, all terrain shoes, and sense of wonder!Bring your camera, charged batteries, tripod, water, all terrain shoes, and sense of wonder!Bring your camera, charged batteries, tripod, water, all terrain shoes, and sense of wonder!

The day was very enjoyable! It has been a ling time since I have gone out to shoot and it was definitely worth the drive North from E-town. Sarah is an excellent teacher and I plan on enrolling in other classes.

I walked up not knowing much about my camera. I left with a new confidence and knowledge on operating my camera and configuring it to get a really good shot. **I** actually took some really good shots during the class. We went over camera settings. Their functions. How to toggle them. When to toggle them. How to capture the best angles when utilizing the sun. I feel excited and empowered! 💪🏼📷

Haven't been here for several years most other times the falls were just a trickle, but with all the rain we have had, I thought I would venture up and try again. So went up early and took the shorter path to the falls, set up my Pentax K-1 with the 24-70 lens and tripod, and started taking photos, a lot from all different angles. The settings for this particular photo were f-8, ss 1/2 sec, iso 100, at a -0.3 stop, 65 mm.Edited it in ON ONE Photo Raw.

Title or Location: This was shot in my small studio setting at home.
I had just taken a master lighting class where I learned a good amount about lighting, and processing in photoshop. The teacher used a Calli lily in many shots. So, when I found some, I attempted to utilize what I learned. I was very pleased with the results. It was actually easy once I got it all setup. I can now duplicate this without issue. Camera was a Canon R6 MKII, and a Canon 50mm 1.2L lens. There is one Goddox MS300 strobe in a double diffused 2x3' softbox on the right.

The Hays Kennedy Park never disappoints - this wonderful Great Blue Heron (a regular guest) was slowing lurking for its dinner as the sun was going down. I patiently waited for this shot and was so happy with the results. These birds are so wonderful to watch up close and glad we have wildlife in our area that bring such joy to others.
